I am not a huge proponent of the concept that you can never get enough of a good thing. When it comes to my love life, though, I have taken this idea to a whole new level. I love my husband and I love the world and have found my true calling. Nomadic existence. I got my second wedding but only had the one honeymoon. So a few months ago, after seeing the line up for Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival in Manchester, Tennessee, we decided to remedy that situation. Next thing you know, planning was underway for a ten day road trip through Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Arkansas, and back to Texas. Looking back, I originally thought it competed with the first honeymoon, when we went on a Mediterranean cruise. Now I realize that it was so wonderful in such a different way. As we've settled into our first year of marriage, it was wonderful to be stuck together in my MINI and making our own adventures. The cruise presented distractions and company and very little decision-making. A roadtrip is an entirely different experience. I loved the experience.
Before I launch into a long, involved description of the whole thing, I thought I'd ask your opinion? Which part would you like to hear about most? The practicalities of road trips as newlyweds? Bonnaroo? Food of the South? Unexpected stops, sideways and byways, like my favorite "Goats on the Roof"? The haunted mansion B&B and riverboat casino in Vicksburg, Mississippi? Our mountain drive and day at the Biltmore Estate? Our favorites from Nashville? You tell me! Otherwise, you will have to wade through what is sure to be an unnecessarily long post for all the parts that interest you. I can make no promises that such parts will even exist. So you make a decision at your own risk. Comment or message me and give me your vote.
